The Belfast-based selector, DJ and producer who lives and breathes the classic acid house, rave and DIY-spirit of his home turf and one of the most significant up-and-coming talents in the Ireland’s House & Techno scene. At just eighteen years old he first got his hands on a set of decks, Richie let nothing hold him back - quickly throwing his own packed-out parties in any venue he could get his hands on; from art galleries, to warehouses, indoor skateparks and beyond. Growing from strength-to-strength, he’s continually crafted and refined his skills as a local DJ selector and producer.

He champions the decks today with an unmistakable authenticity and energy for performance, tipped for success by the UK’s first superstar DJ Sasha, as well as industry heavy-hitters John Digweed and Skream to name just a few. His latest Crayon Muncher EP rated 8/10 by Mixmag, quickly smashing its way into the Top 20 of traxsource’s Tech-House Chart, and receiving airplay from Sasha’s DJ sets & on his Last Night on Earth radio show. Currently, Blacker flexes his skills through a Saturday night residency (Future) at Foundry in Belfast as well as Northern Ireland’s leading radio station Cool FM’s, Nocturnal Radio show. Just as comfortable connecting with crowds at large-scale raves, festivals and intimate clubs, Blacker takes listeners through every unpredictable twist and turn a set can take through this electronic underworld we call house & techno, and the emotionally-charged feeling he creates along the way with his music.

It’s no surprise that along the way the industry took notice, and Richie’s gone from strength-to-strength with residencies for MOTH Events, the legendary T13 Warehouse that brought Belfast its internationally-renowned AVA Festival, and Kinetik. An uncompromising DJ, Blacker’s firmly platformed his sound on some of the biggest clubbing events in Northern Ireland as well as further afield on the White Isle (Ibiza), Portugal and more. Blacker is a versatile artist who floats through the realms of house & techno while displaying the fine ability to fuse together techno, disco and melodic undertones in his DJ sets and productions. Crowds & listeners across the world have quickly learned he can turn his hand to any genre while reviving the DJ’s art of reading the room.

Impressed by the quality of his discography, notorious UK DJ’s Sasha & Skream has signed Richie to their record labels, Last Night On Earth & Of Unsound Mind. With signing to labels like these Richie is certainly not just a passing phase and definitely one to watch. Additionally Blacker has featured on a number of other record labels such as Einmusika Recordings, Smiley Fingers Records, Baroque Records, Whartone Records, Rezonation Music, De-Funkt Records and received regular airplay from Radio 1, as well as commercial support from other mainstream stations across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. No signs of slowing down anytime soon, Richie is a skyrocketing talent to keep an eye on.
